From a customer to a provider of complementary health

Hello and welcome to Thrive,

You can feel better! Change is possible and achievable. However, it helps to understand what is going on, why things are happening or feeling a bit out of balance, and what we can do to support ourselves.  I approach health and wellness from a truly holistic viewpoint and we will look at both your physical and emotional health in the context of where you are at in your life right now. Sometimes we are ready for big changes as our health has been bothering us for a long while, other times we know we need to make some changes but just aren’t sure what to do or how much time we can commit. Whatever stage you’re at, I can help you.

I have gone from being an incredibly anxious and perfectionist young person, to understanding my stress triggers and developing self-care strategies to support myself. I have gone from being in a wheelchair during the M.E./CFS years, to completing a sprint triathlon (well two actually!); from always needing to know where the nearest toilet was due to IBS, to having a much calmer gut and enjoying my food again. I often say I am a “friendly nutritionist” as I will always love my cake, but I like to think I am more gentle with my body in understanding what it needs.

We are all human and no-one or any thing is entirely perfect, but I like to think I can help myself, and others, to think and feel the best they can. I would love to help you, just get in touch x

Kinesiology helped me in my own battle with M.E., please read on to find out about my own journey,

My journey

I’m incredibly passionate about kinesiology and have been receiving treatments for over 15 years now since finding it dramatically reduced the symptoms of my M.E./CFS.

I stumbled across it when I developed M.E. after a bout of glandular fever and was very ill for a number of years, unable to walk and using a wheelchair to get around. My Mum was having to wash me, feed me and assist with all manner of things that you would expect a woman in her 20s to be able to do by herself.  I tried so many treatments both traditional (CBT/GET) and complementary but for me, kinesiology was the key for me unlocking my body and starting to heal. It also astounded me how much progress I made after just one treatment.

On recovery, I proceeded to ignore the wonderful benefits and fledgling knowledge that kinesiology had brought me and in a bid to make up for the lost years, moved to London to plunge myself into the world of advertising for the next few years. This created yo-yo effects on my health and energy levels and after losing my Father suddenly, I realised I could not continue living in this burn-out, without understanding how to better support my work/life balance and health needs.

I decided I had to learn more and so qualified as a Systematic Kinesiologist (foundation levels 1-6) in 2014 allowing me to support myself, family and friends. This sparked a passion inside of me and I subsequently completed my professional Diploma qualification with the School of Advanced Kinesiology and built a treatment clinic in Sherborne, Dorset. I furthered my studies with a Certificate in Naturopathic Nutrition and Health and am delighted to offer individual nutrition and meal planning sessions either face to face or via Zoom so I can now work globally.

As life changes and evolves, I have found myself drawn even further into Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health support. How we think and feel has such a huge impact on our overall wellbeing. The eternal student, I have completed several qualifications within the mental health and counselling fields in order to broaden my understanding and support I can offer.

I am truly excited (and possibly rather geeky!) about the incredible effects kinesiology can bring. I have learnt so much about my own body and how to strive for optimal health, learning to try to manage the work/life balance,  to avoid food sensitivities which trigger my IBS and to really listen to what my body tells me – including allowing myself time to relax.

Kinesiology has helped me with a wide range of issues over the years:  backache, headaches, mouth ulcers, recurrent sore throats, dealing with grief after losing my father, coping with relationship stress, IBS symptoms and for a long time a period of just not feeling well, as if my battery wasn’t recharging fully.

It is with much delight and excitement that I pour all my positive energy into treating others and helping them deal with their symptoms so they too can feel the benefits.

I run face to face sessions from The London Road Clinic in Milborne Port, Somerset,  ideally placed for those in the South West of England including Somerset, Devon and Wiltshire. I also treat clients globally via Zoom sessions.
